How to Apply Touch Up Paint to Your Vehicle

When you own a vehicle for a number of years, it's almost impossible not to get nicks and scrapes that will result in missing paint. When these flaws occur, you should attempt to touch up the affected area with paint made especially for such a purpose. We here at Hyundai Of Cottonwood recommend the following steps.

Match your touch up paint as close as possible to your vehicle's finish. The best way to do this is to order paint based on your vehicle's inventory. Locate the color code on your vehicle near the VIN number or through an internet search.

Prepare the surface by cleaning it thoroughly. Light scratches need a light sanding and additional cleaning for the paint to adhere while deeper scratches need to have rust removed first. Allow the surface to dry before touching up. Let the surface cure and then wash and wax your vehicle.
